Great British Operas On Record

Our Listening Rooms

In these pages, we have some sound clips for you to listen to, one Room per recording. Within each Room, you can choose tracks to play.

The Listening Rooms for Christmas Gambols

We've chosen 7 extracts from the recording, to amuse you... three from The Musical Tour of Mr Dibdin, and four from Christmas Gambols.

The photo shows Simon Butteriss and Stephen Higgins rehearsing at the fortepiano.

The Listening Rooms for Pickwick

We’ve chosen extracts from both Pickwick and Cups and Saucers

The photo shows the cup and saucer used in the recording of George Grossmith’s Cups and Saucers! They are Czechoslovakian porcelain. The teaspoon was rather more ordinary, though.

The Listening Rooms for The Boatswain’s Mate

We've chosen 5 extracts from the recording, to tempt you!

The photo shows one of the orchestral rehearsals, with Odaline de la Martinez conducting members of the Lontano ensemble.

The Listening Rooms for Raymond and Agnes

Examples of the music we’re recording:

The Loder Concert, 16 October 2015.

We invite you to listen to some extracts from Raymond and Agnes. This was a live performance, so the recordings are not studio-quality. (The Bath Assembly Rooms live up to their name!) Nonetheless, we hope they’ll give you a flavour of the wonderful music our Visionaries are helping to revive. Our photo shows a rehearsal of Raymond and Agnes with the singers and players you will hear.
